Accurate pressure for Mercury tires fitted onto Mountaineer, Sable, Cougar as well as for Mariner, Milan and Grand Marquis models made by this Ford division will cut gas consumption and cost, enhance road safety and lower carbon dioxide pollution.

Unlike many other car brands owned by conglomerates, Mercury wasn't acquired, but created from scratch by Ford in 1939 as the car buyers' stepping stone to the luxury Lincoln cars and to compete against GM's Buick brand.

It is a shame that this is one of the car brands that Ford decided to stop manufacturing after the economic downturn of 2008. But stopping production does not absolve Ford of the responsibility to continue to service cars that bear its emblem, as well as the drivers who trusted them.

Please telephone or write to the executives at Ford to prod them for better tyre pressure monitors that can be retrofitted onto its cars that are and will be on the road for many years to come. Without such devices these cars will continue to pollute the environment, not to mention be vulnerable to high fuel costs, faster tyre wear and dangerous blow outs on the road.
